Zyxel GS1900: el parche anterior no bastaba; firmware 2.90 Patch 3 cierra la falla CVE-2026-107441Zyxel GS1900: the earlier patch was not enough; firmware 2.90 Patch 3 fixes CVE-2026-107441

The Hacker News reports (November 5, 2026) that Binarly found Zyxel GS1900 switches that received the first fix are still vulnerable. The flaw allows commands to run as root, without logging in, through the web management interface.

What happened

  • Zyxel's June 16 advisory (CVE-2026-7273) was fixed in firmware 2.90 Patch 2. CISA added it to its KEV catalog on September 21.
  • Binarly reported a separate flaw, CVE-2026-107441, to Zyxel on September 29; the exploit relies on it. Zyxel released 2.90 Patch 3 on October 23 for 10 GS1900 models.
  • Binarly rates it CVSS 9.8; Zyxel's NVD entry lists 8.8. Zyxel describes an unauthenticated attacker on the LAN; Binarly says network reachability to the management service is enough.
  • The cause is an out-of-bounds write: Patch 2 checked the parameter counter after copying the oversized parameter; Patch 3 checks it before and limits the copy.

GreyNoise had reported attacks that took data from 996 GS1900 switches (564 with factory-default credentials), although neither GreyNoise nor Binarly says those devices had the first patch. No workaround has been published for devices that cannot be updated yet.

What to check this week

  • Inventory of GS1900 switches in branches, offices and service points.
  • Update to the ".3" firmware for the matching model (for example, GS1900-24 to 2.90(AAHL.3)C0).
  • Block web management access from customer or guest networks and change factory credentials.

Why it matters for in-person service

A compromised switch in a branch can disrupt queue displays, teller equipment and the link to core systems. When that happens, lines grow and support tickets multiply. With Nexturno you can see wait times and queue flow per branch, and with Servigo365 you can log each IT incident as a ticket with an owner and SLA, so an urgent firmware update is planned and documented.
