TeamViewer corrige CVE-2026-111585: un equipo remoto malicioso puede atacar a quien se conecta a controlarloTeamViewer fixes CVE-2026-111585: a malicious remote machine can attack the person connecting to control it

2026-10-31

On October 30, 2026, CVE-2026-111585 (CVSS 8.8) in TeamViewer was made public, as reported by The Hacker News. What makes it unusual is the direction of the attack: it is not the customer who is exposed, but the person who connects to provide support or control the remote machine.

What happens

A malicious or compromised remote host reports its screen size and, through a sizing error in the viewer, too little memory is reserved. Later screen data is then written past that space. At minimum the viewer session crashes; researcher Omri Dar of Remedio demonstrated code execution on Windows, bypassing built-in OS defenses, although the demo used a stand-in component on the host and was not fully remote.

Versions and conditions

  • It affects every version before 15.83, including 15.82: the Full Client on Windows, Linux and macOS, the Windows Portable edition and the Android Remote Control app.
  • The attacker must be the host and the victim must start the control session; no password and no extra click are needed. It works with the default configuration.
  • TeamViewer offers no workaround: the fix is to update to 15.83 or later. The same update fixes two other high-severity flaws, and a companion bulletin fixes six more in the Remote Management add-ons.
  • At publication time no attacks were known and no exploit code had been released.

What a support team should do

Inventory which technicians use TeamViewer and which version, including portable copies that do not update themselves. Update before the next remote session with a machine you do not control, and make it a practice to connect to third-party machines from limited-privilege workstations rather than an administrator account.

The operational order that keeps support running

A flaw like this is a reminder that remote support is just one tool inside a process: who handles what, under which ticket, in which channel and under which SLA. Servigo365, the TEKFENIX help desk, centralizes tickets, customer history and multichannel service, so when remote sessions must be paused for updates, the team keeps working with clear priorities and response times. And if your operation includes branches with in-person service, Nexturno keeps tickets and queues organized while IT applies the patch.
